She shovels foamed milk from her cappuccino into her mouth one spoonful at a time and when the foam’s about gone she leans down and licks and slurps around the lip and sides of her mug before she picks it up and gazes over it at my table and at the table to her left and back at mine where she espies something she wants in the sugar bowl in front of me and her eyes open a little bit wider.
